As the leading goat cheese manufacturer in the United States, we are excited to pave the way for cheese makers by producing the first and only non-GMO goat cheese certified by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF). Our best-selling item, the 4 oz. Fresh Goat Cheese Log, is now NSF Non-GMO True North Certified in all 13 flavors and is available nationwide. This is an enormous achievement and milestone for our entire team, as we pride ourselves on the highest standards of artisan cheese-making.

Remaining true to our establishing principles while excited by the prospect, Montchevre co-founder Arnaud Solandt first investigated converting to non-GMO in 2013 and quickly determined to introduce the methods to Montchevre. “The practice of producing non-GMO goat cheese fits our commitment to making high quality product by using high quality ingredients,” states Solandt. “We believe that using traditional farming methods, preserving the integrity of the seeds, and reducing the use of pesticides and herbicides is not only important to our environment, but to our customers, farmers and goats as well.”

A large group of our independent family operated farms, enthusiastic to embrace non-GMO farming, worked with us and the NSF to achieve this non-GMO certification. Throughout this process and to remain fully committed to our goal, we opened a lab in Kalona, Iowa, to analyze crops, hay and feed for goat milk producers. The milk produced from these farms is solely used to make Montchevre’s non-GMO 4 oz. Fresh Goat Cheese Logs.

We are thrilled by the certification and plan to transition additional farms to non-GMO, eventually making Montchevre a fully non-GMO goat cheese company. Launching non-GMO 4 oz. Fresh Goat Cheese Logs in 2016 firmly places Montchevre as leaders in the non-GMO movement while proving commitment to our core value of producing outstanding goat cheese.
